4 Things Oscars Taught Us About Smug Hollywood

The 2019 Oscars night recently honored a field of amazing and not-so-amazing films. Biopics such as Bohemian Rhapsody heralded the value of music and the craft of filmmaking. It won, big league. Others such as Vice leaned on Hollywood’s anti-conservative bias to perpetuate the misguided ideology of the left that Americans are inherently bad people.

But the recent awards provided a peek into the most critically acclaimed industry personalities. The event also taught us four things about smug Hollywood celebrities that may make you pass on supporting their next feature film.

1: Hollywood Elites Do Not Share American Values

In recent years, Hollywood liberals have clamped down and stifled basic American values such as free speech, patriotism and fundamental fairness. When the film American Sniper celebrated one of the country’s greatest war heroes, Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, Hollywood liberals were outraged. But films that tend to portray Americans as homophobic (Brokeback Mountain, Philadelphia), or racist (Malcolm X) are welcomed with open arms.

There’s a certain backhanded way of looking at the country and our neighbors by Hollywood elites that revels in trashing good people as evil. It’s simply not that case that racism and homophobia infect that hearts and minds of most Americans. And, it’s unfair to continue to blacklist conservative actors and actresses who embrace American goodness.

This year, Vice garnered eight Academy Award nominations. The hit piece on former Vice Pres. Dick Cheney earned Hollywood praise because it portrayed a Republican as Satan incarnate. If a film assaulted Democrat Pres. Barrack Obama in a similar fashion, there would be blood in the Hollywood streets.

2: Spike Lee Proves Hate is Love to Hollywood Elites

A disgruntled director Spike Lee turned his back and seemingly threatened to walk out of the Oscars in a toddler tantrum over not winning Best Picture for “BlackKkKansman.” Although certainly not his finest work to date, Lee said the “refs made a bad call” about not honoring him. However, the Academy handed the petulant child a win that many viewed as make-up calls for his snubbed “Do The Right Thing.”

That being said, Lee took the stage with a ringlet that spelled out LOVE. Naturally, the left-winger went on a rant, lying about the president not denouncing racism in America. What Spike Lee and his fellow Hollywood celebs don’t seem to understand is that anger and hate speech directed at people who disagree politically is still hate. Mr. Lee can wear all the love bling he can carry, hate is still hate, and he was filled with it on Oscars night.

3: Why Hollywood Snobs Outraged Over ‘Green Book’ Win

Mainstream media headlines about Green Book called it things such a “divisive.” The 1962 period piece deals with racism at a time when a so-called Green Book was used by African-Americans traveling through the South to locate hotels and motels that allowed them to stay the night. Needless to say, they were more ramshackle than anything.

The film deservedly won Best Picture — despite Spike Lee’s selfish objections. In it, Viggo Mortensen chauffeurs concert pianist Mahershala Ali from show to show and the pair work out their racial biases. It’s a feel-good film that teaches Americans are complicated, but basically good people who can come together if given half a chance.

Liberals dove deep into the anti-Green Book spin calling it racist because it used the N-word consistent with the usage in 1962, and fictionalized parts of the real-life story in a more positive fashion. At the end of the day, voters bought into its showcasing of 1960s racism and embraced the happy ending. Nothing irks Hollywood snobs more than people of different races becoming friends.

4: Why No Oscars Host is a Good Thing

The Oscars were an unmitigated disaster long before the golden figure was handed out. Comedian Kevin Hart was initially slated to host the awards show but had to drop out because he had made jokes, or remarks if you prefer, that were perceived as not gay-friendly. Not only did Hart have to step down, but he also succumbed to pressure to apologize for making gay jokes and tweets. He pointed out that people were not quite as sensitive when he made them.

Ironically, without a host smearing conservative Americans, the ratings actually improved. The anti-Trump attacks last year caused the Oscars to dip to its lowest viewership in history. While everyday Americans have not lost sight of the fact that Hollywood snobs want big money to star in films from the people, they look down their noses at, the lack of a liberal host made it modestly more watchable.

The Oscars were treated to only its second-lowest viewership in history. The ratings ought to remind Hollywood elites they are professional entertainers, and America is not entertained by their smug, liberal attitude.
