Critics Bash Trump for the Same Things They Once Supported

Even President Donald Trump’s critics once said that we needed a president that was more aggressive and that knew how to negotiate strong trade deals that protected American workers. However, that was before President Trump took office – and now that he’s there, his critics can’t find a good thing to say about him.

Even if the president does fail at talks with North Korea and making the tariffs work to his advantage, he is still ahead of any other president – Republican or Democrat – in trying to make the changes it takes to make America great again – solely because he is trying something new after other methods failed.

The president’s critics are always saying that he should listen to those who know better. Since the previous administrations could not fix the problems, who must the critics be talking about? Certainly, not anyone who has worked in the White House for the past 30 or so years. Yes, the sky really is falling this time…

And, while the critics often refer to the Smoot-Hawley fiasco and the real trade wars in 1930, they may have a point. But, and this is a big ‘but,’ they haven’t come up with a better plan to bring back jobs. Liberals might blow a lot of hot air, but they are definitely keeping quiet about any solutions for working-class Americans. They also forgot how destructive the de-industrialization of the country was. Those who suffered through manufacturing exodus haven’t forgotten the hardships of losing their jobs, and, in case Democrats haven’t noticed, those workers are paying attention to the lack of compassion liberals and Democrats have for their families.

In March 2018, President Trump imposed a 25 percent tariff on imported steel and a 10 percent tariff on aluminum in the hopes of balancing foreign trade and bringing jobs back to America. Unfair trade practices have put many steel mills out of business. If companies start manufacturing steel and aluminum in the United States, more jobs will open for residents. However, most liberals are convinced that this will start a trade war.

This is where President Trump’s negotiation skills come into play. At first, he stated that there would be no exemptions. However, Canada and Mexico have already been granted exemptions based on NAFTA talks. In other words, if the president gets a fair trade deal with either country, they may be exempt from the tariffs on steel and aluminum. If the two countries agree to the terms that President Trump puts forth, the tariff exemptions would be permanent.

Now that Canada and Mexico came forward with potential deals to avoid the tariffs, other countries are requesting exemptions. But, if they want the exemptions, they are going to have to trade something in return. Since countries are requesting exemptions, there is a very good chance that President Trump will be able to create fair and balanced trade with other countries and the United States won’t take such a big hit to her pocket.

Naturally, the left couldn’t be more upset about it. Of course, this isn’t the only thing they’ve changed their position on virtually over night.

Around the same time as the tariffs were announced, President Trump said that he would be meeting with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un to discuss rogue nation’s penchant for nuclear weapons. Many think that President Trump is naive and walking into a trap. And, he is being called arrogant because he believes he is able to negotiate a deal with North Korea – a deal that three previous presidents could not accomplish. But, those three previous presidents did not have President Trump’s hard-line negotiating skills. And, they were afraid to “upset” the North Korean dictator and his predecessor because of their instability.

However, what if the previous administrations fell into the dictators’ traps? They kept quiet in the hopes that the problem would go away, but it just got worse over the years. Instead of cow-towing to the likes of these dictators, President Trump has backed Kim Jong Un into a corner. Either he starts a nuclear war, in which his country would most likely be wiped off the face of the earth, or he stops playing with his nuclear weapons. Kim Jong Un now knows that we have the capability to stop his missiles before they get to the United States – but does he have the capability to stop ours from hitting his country?

President Trump is definitely thinking outside the box and he is getting things done to make this country better and safer. In his first year as president, he has kept a lot of his promises to the American people, despite the liberal media and Congress trying to stop his every action.
