Democrats Are Making a Secret List of Possible Supreme Court Nominees

Democratic activists vehemently deny making a list of possible Supreme Court nominees who could tip the court to the left if given the opportunity. However, there is ample evidence that liberal organizations are compiling the names of possible candidates that a left-leaning president and Senate could consider for the lifetime appointment.

The president of the Alliance for Justice recently admitted that the organization is evaluating potential judicial nominees, and noted that AFJ wants to make Democratic presidential candidates aware of a “broad pool” of potential judges. However, the organization steadfastly refuses to call its collection of names a “list.” The other progressive organizations partnering with AFJ in compiling names include Planned Parenthood, People for the American Way, and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.

The activists working to build the list are so intent on keeping their efforts secret, that they are maliciously attacking conservatives who dare to ask questions. When the Judicial Crisis Network released advertisements discussing the list, all hell broke loose. The mainstream media accused JCN of being funded by “dark money group donors,” and called for the organization to release the names of donors who have given more than $10,000.

Over half a dozen senior Democratic politicians, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and presidential candidate Sen. Cory Booker, are demanding that Judicial Crisis Network reveal where it is getting its ad campaign money from. At the same time, those who are demanding that the Judicial Crisis Network be “transparent” are refusing to do the same.

The secrecy is odd given the fact that President Donald Trump had no problem telling voters which individuals he was considering for the Supreme Court. He came to the platform with a list, and promised voters he would only consider names from that list. While plenty of individuals were naturally displeased, no-one could claim that the President was misleading the public. On the other hand, liberal activists and candidates are hesitant to tell the American people about their own list.

A few candidates have given hints about their intentions by stating that they would only consider nominating pro-abortion candidates. Given the fact that many Democrats are in favor of gun control, it’s hard to imagine that they would nominate any candidate who was in favor of Second Amendment rights. Furthermore, the fact that the NAACP is involved indicates that liberal activists are looking for judges who wouldn’t overrule a Democratic president’s efforts to pursue “reparations” for 19th century slavery.

The judiciary in the United States wields an incredible amount of power. A single ruling from just one judge can impact the nation. Appointments to the bench are for life, which means that each candidate will affect the nation long after those who have appointed him or her are out of office.

Given these facts, the existence of a secret list (or “pool of names” as the Democrats like to call it) is extremely troubling. Democratic politicians and their acolytes who insist on transparency for conservative organizations should lead the way by being honest about their own agenda.
