‘Empire’ Star Faces Jail Time For Hate Crime Hoax, Police Outraged

Empire star Jussie Smollett has been charged with faking a hate crime and filing a false police report. The gay, African-American liberal is now likely to face jail time if convicted of the felony because the Chicago P.D. is furious.

“This is shameful because it painted this city that we all love and work hard in, in a negative connotation,” Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said at a press conference. “To insinuate and stage a hate crime of that nature when he knew that as a celebrity he’d get a lot of attention. It’s despicable. It makes you wonder what’s going through someone’s mind.”

But beyond the legal ramifications of his hoax, Smollett has once again exposed a grotesque willingness of the fake news media to believe any lie that paints President Donald Trump and conservative Americans as racist and intolerant. Unfortunately for Smollett, Chicago police detectives didn’t fall for his alleged con job.

Smollett reportedly filed a police report claiming two large masked men saw him late at night and recognized him from the TV series. They hurled racial and homophobic slurs at him before pouring bleach on the African-American’s skin, put a noose around his neck and shouted this is “MAGA country,” President Trump’s campaign slogan.

The actor went as far as to appear on talk shows such as liberal-leaning Good Morning America and weep about his trauma. Good acting earned Smollett a spot on a hit series, but it could not sidestep the fact that police tracked down the alleged attackers caught on a nearby surveillance camera. Chicago police apprehended two suspects — Abel and Ola Osundairo — a pair of African-American bodybuilders who had previous employment ties to Smollett. Needless to say, black men hurling racial slurs didn’t add up.

The Osundairo brothers reportedly confessed to police that Smollett hired them to perpetrate the hoax and are willing to testify that the actor paid them. They had not, apparently, counted on a phony police report and the type of high-profile scrutiny the incident caused. The bodybuilding brothers reportedly provided details to police about where they purchased the ski masks and Smollett’s motivation to stage the incident. Police report they have secured a canceled check for $3,500 used by the actor to pay the brothers for the hoax.

In terms of motivation, the attackers-turned-witnesses reportedly claimed that Smollett was unsatisfied with the attention a piece of hate mail generated and wanted to increase his profile and acting salary. The hate mail included a death threat, racial slur and a white powder later found to be aspirin.

Smollett’s efforts were rewarded in the short term. His subsequent Hollywood concert sold out, and he gave an impassioned speech about the hate crime. Smollett went as far as to proclaim he was the “gay Tupac.” Radical liberal Congresswoman Maxine Waters attended the event.

Democrat presidential hopefuls such as Sen. Kamala Harris and Sen. Cory “Spartacus” Booker jumped on the hoax to call the incident a “modern-day lynching.” Sen. Booker went as far as to introduce anti-lynching legislation that many see as another case of bad acting. Smollett won’t be winning any Emmy Awards for his performance either.

His claims were found to be suspicious from the very beginning. When police arrived to secure the letter, the actor was handling it with gloves. Either he was preparing for a CSI audition or his behavior was over-the-top. When police arrived at his apartment after receiving a call about the assault, Smollett was reportedly still wearing the noose for effect. Officers requested his cell phone to confirm he was meeting. Smollett refused.

“Smollett surrendered to authorities Thursday morning after he was charged with one count of felony disorderly conduct for filing a false police report,” Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi reportedly said.

The actor is reportedly now under further investigation for filing a false report about the hate mail as well. A charge of federal mail fraud could also be leveled. If convicted of filing a false police report, Smollett faces up to three years in prison, a fine of $25,000 and may have to pay the entire cost of the police investigation. The former outspoken Democrat politicians who rushed to judgment are reportedly now waiting for all the facts to emerge.
