Far-Left Professor Warns Beer is Inherently Racist

In today’s crazy world, there are likely tens of millions of people who enjoy nothing more than kicking back with a good beer. But according to far-left Professor Virginia Tech Professor David L. Brunsma, these individuals are using an inherently racist product.

Professor Brunsma recently co-authored a book titled “Beer and Racism: How Beer Became White, Why It Matters, and the Movements to Change It”, in which he expounds on the many reasons why beer should be a big no-no for anyone who wants to eradicate racism and make the world a better place.

Granted, most of the book doesn’t target beer itself but rather the way in which beer is made and marketed. Professor Brunsma’s book begins by recounting the “white supremacist” history of beer in the United States, pointing out that it was white colonists who brought beer from Europe (no surprise there). He then complains that Prohibition in the United States ended because “white” companies producing alcoholic beverages fought against Prohibition as they didn’t want to lose money (yet again, not surprising).

The professor then goes on to state that “craft beer” became popular in the United States because “white people” who went to Europe on vacation, enjoyed drinking dark brews abroad, and then found that such brews were not common in the United States at the time. While some people who favored dark beer simply bought foreign beer, others saw a potential business opportunity and began brewing their own beers to sell. Naturally, according to Professor Brunsma, the people who did there were all white. What’s more, they specifically market their products to white people because of “racism” and “white supremacy”.

Professor Brunsma isn’t the only far-left academic who thinks that beer manufacturing and marketing in the United States is inherently racist. Other professors have praised the book for providing a peek into how a “seemingly innocuous” product would have “deep racial meanings.

University of Mexico Professor Eli Wilson has praised the book, stating that it shows how people who make marketing and hiring decisions in breweries can “exacerbate racial inequalities” in the United States.

Thankfully, it seems “cancel culture” hasn’t come for beer yet. As of the end of October 2020, the book had only one single-star review rating on Amazon with one scathing review.

“This book uses identity politics to make white people feel bad about themselves for the purposes of demoralizing society and the author is taking advantage of the racism propaganda fad currently sweeping the nation,” the singular comment read.

There are plenty of genuine problems in the United States, but beer manufacturing isn’t one of them. Extending cancel culture to anything that was originally made by white people is not just insipid — but also downright dangerous. People of all ages, nationalities, and skin colors in the United States should feel free to enjoy the products they like best.

The left has succeeded in tearing down many American traditions over the years. Fortunately, it looks like drinking beer will not be one of them.
