Fewer People than Ever Are Buying the Media’s “Russian Collusion” Narrative

A full-out assault doesn’t even begin to describe the mainstream media’s relentless coverage of “Russian collusion” by President Trump and his various associates. When the accusations fail to stick to one member of the Trump administration, they have been quick to start pointing fingers at another, so that by now, if you believed the talking heads, you’d think that three-quarters of the executive branch are Russian double agents.

It turns out, though, that people aren’t believing them. In a recent poll conducted by ABC News/Washington Post, it was revealed that just 9% of Republicans think the Trump team colluded with Russia – a number that’s half of what it was in April.

The wild goose chase of Russian collusion is failing to even completely gain traction with Democrats. While the number of Democrats who believe there was collusion did go up 4% to 64% since April, ABC admits that this increase is “not a significant shift.” This is especially true given the fact that the poll’s margin of error was right at the same percentage of increase (3.5%).

All told, the wheels are starting to fall off the Russian collusion conspiracy theory that those in the media have been trying to use for months to oust President Trump. Not only is this strategy not working, it’s backfiring. Trust in the media is at an all time low, and a large percentage of Americans are downright angry about the way the mainstream media has covered the Trump presidency. Reporters who have dared to venture outside the liberal safe havens of New York and Washington DC have witnessed this anger and frustration first-hand.

On July 13th, a radio news director out of Iowa named Robert Leonard emailed CNN media reporter Brian Stelter, saying, “They [conservatives in Iowa] think the Trump/Russia deal is a coup attempt by the media, and don’t think there is anything to the Russia/ Trump, Jr. emails. They don’t understand why the media is trying to oust our duly elected president. They think there is a double standard — why isn’t anyone investigating the Clinton campaign/Russia connections? They are standing firm behind Trump.”

And it’s not just conservatives who can see through the sham. According to a recent Harvard-Harris poll, right at two-thirds of all Americans believe that there “there exists a campaign to delegitimize” President Trump. This means that even those who might would rather see President Trump leave office still aren’t buying into to the smear campaign that the media’s coverage of Russian collusion has become.

The simple truth is that no hard evidence of collusion of any sort exists. For that matter, even the circumstantial evidence that the media and those on the left cling so desperately to is easily explainable when you recognize the fact that Trump and his associates are highly influential politicians and businessmen who communicate with other highly influential politicians and businessmen from all over the world. The fact that some of those communications took place with individuals from Russia falls woefully short of even beginning to prove there was any collusion between the Trump team and Russian officials.

Of course, it’s safe to say we still probably haven’t seen the last of the Russian collusion goose chase when it comes to media coverage. Right now, it’s Donald Trump Jr. who’s in the crosshairs, but once their attack on him inevitably comes to a fizzle, it’s anybody’s guess who they’ll go after next.

The worst part of all this is the fact that the only people the mainstream media is hurting with this relentless attack on a duly elected President are the American people. Trump has described the Russian collusion narrative as a “cloud” hanging over his presidency, preventing him from being fully effective in his agenda to bolster the economy, bring back jobs, and stop illegal immigration.

Even with dangerous threats such as a nuclear North Korea looming, those in the media and on the left refuse to let the President focus on the task at hand and insist that both he and those in his administration fend off one ridiculous accusation after the other.

At least with the polls showing that fewer and fewer people are buying into their obvious ploy, there is some hope that this baseless assault on the president is nearing its long-due end.
