Joe Biden Just Showed Us How He Would Handle a Crisis

When the going gets tough, Joe Biden runs for cover. As the COVID-19 pandemic pushes everyday Americans to the brink, the Obama-era flunky has been nowhere to be seen, at least not in person.

If one were nostalgic for the not-so-good ole days of the previous administration, this must feel eerily familiar. That’s because leading from the cheap seats remains a tried-and-true Democrat strategy giving them deniability when things run afoul and a soapbox to criticize front lines leadership.

“In past week, Joe Biden has only had 1 on-camera public address as COVID escalated. (He spoke for ~6 mins on Tuesday from his home.). He also hosted a tele-town hall w/voters, answered Qs on press call & video chatted w/donors. Everything else has been statements ripping POTUS,” CBS News campaign journalist Bo Erickson reportedly tweeted.

“Joe Biden is MIA. He has not appeared in public or in a virtual event since early last week. Joe’s campaign reported to CNBC that all of his virtual events were postponed and for future events he would not take live questions. Does Joe even remember he is running for president,” one Bernie Sanders supporter tweeted.

Certain conservative circle headlines have gone as far as to play off President Donald Trump’s mocking of Biden’s son, Hunter, with “Where’s Hunter Joe?” Apparently, evading responsibility and hiding are family traits. The younger Biden has repeatedly dodged court appearances in Arkansas related to a paternity suit. A judge finally forces Hunter Biden to take a DNA test and pay more than a year in child support. The elder Biden has become a virtual specter only seen on video, resembling an older, frailer version of Michael Bloomberg and the $500 million ad buy.

The frontrunner for the Democratic Party’s presidential nod has deftly positioned himself well in the rear of the crisis. Failing to provide support or mobilize his base to join the national effort to defeat the unseen enemy, Biden continues to hurl cheap shots and at those putting in the work.

“For too long, the warning signs were ignored,” Biden said. “For too long, the administration said the threats were under control, contained, or like the flu. The president said no one saw this coming. That’s just not accurate. Our intelligence officials were warning about the coronavirus threat in January. Just based on public information I had, I warned the threat was getting worse way back on January 27.”

America may have few questions, if that were even remotely true. Why didn’t Biden actually warn America as he claims? He certainly had a national platform as the Democrat frontrunner. But perhaps the larger question is why didn’t the Obama-Biden administration replenish the N95 respirator masks in 2009 after using the stockpile to combat the swine flu?

“The national stockpile used to be somewhat more robust. In 2006, Congress provided supplemental funds to add 104 million N95 masks and 52 million surgical masks in an effort to prepare for a flu pandemic. But after the H1N1 influenza outbreak in 2009, which triggered a nationwide shortage of masks and caused a 2- to 3-year backlog orders for the N95 variety, the stockpile distributed about three-quarters of its inventory and didn’t build back the supply,” Bloomberg News reported.

It was President George W. Bush that laid out the “National Strategy for Pandemic Influenza” in 2005, and this stockpile of masks would have been available to save the lives of everyday Americans today. That is, had Obama or Biden followed the pandemic guidelines and restocked. It’s troubling that we are only now finding out that the failed lead-from-behind strategy of the Obama-Biden years continues to put Americans at risk.
