Joe Biden Says There Will Be Less Natural Disasters if He Becomes President

Politicians have been making outlandish, unrealistic promises for decades. Even so, former VP Joe Biden’s promise that America will see fewer fires, floods, and hurricanes if he is elected President in November takes the cake.

The comments come in the wake of the horrific California fires, which progressive pundits and politicians have blamed on climate change — and President Trump himself. Biden went on to call President Trump a “climate arsonist,” and declare that there will be more fires, floods, and “superstorms” if the President wins re-election in November.

“If we have four more years of Trump’s climate denial, how many suburbs will be burned from wildfires? How many suburban neighborhoods will have been flooded out? How many suburbs will have been blown away in superstorms?” Biden said.

According to the former VP, these natural disasters will be even more deadly than in the past as President Trump refuses to embrace the far-left talking points outlined in the New Green Deal.

There are two big problems with Biden’s statement. First of all, science and history clearly show that horrific weather events have been commonplace for hundreds of years — long before the industrial revolution. California, for instance, has experienced a number of mega-droughts in the last 1,000 years. Soil analysis shows that a powerful hurricane hit New York state between 1278 and 1438, long before the state became the center of commerce it is today.

Floods have likewise been commonplace in the Midwest, with the most devastating one occurring in the late 1920s. Blaming catastrophic weather on climate change and implying government policies can reduce them is clearly absurd. What is likely to happen is that, if catastrophic weather events occur during a Biden presidency, they would be blamed on President Trump for “failing to address climate change” during his time in office.

Of course, there is the obvious fact that human error and mismanagement can exacerbate natural disasters. For instance, poor land management and inadequate stormwater management can cause flooding in local communities to be worse than it would have been otherwise. California has mismanaged its forests for decades, making it difficult if not impossible to use effective techniques such as controlled burns to clear out dead underbrush.

However, common sense and wise use of resources won’t help Democrats implement their socialist Green New Deal agenda to micromanage the lives of everyday citizens. Hence, they are discarded in favor of Draconian laws that would wreak havoc on the economy, raise energy prices and increase the risks of blackouts.

Biden is trying to capitalize on the California fires by blaming them all on President Trump. However, even a quick glance at history shows that massive natural disasters have been par for the course for thousands of years. While those in charge can take measures to mitigate the damage caused by fires, flooding, and hurricanes, these actions fall in the court of state governments rather than the presidency.

Once again, the “climate justice” the far-left is talking about has little to do with disaster mitigation, and everything to do with reshaping the United States into a socialist regime.
