Jussie Smollett Arrested on Felony Charge for Faking Hate Crime

The Jussie Smollett saga appears to be drawing to a predictable close as the Empire star is now facing up to three years in prison after authorities arrested him on a felony charge.

Chicago police are charging Jussie Smollett with a felony disorderly conduct charge, which carries a minimum sentence of one year in jail. Smollett is of course accused of filing a false police report after his initial claim that he was attacked by two MAGA hat-wearing Trump supporters at 2am during a blizzard fell apart.

Anyone with even a hint of intellectual honesty had questions about the extraordinary claim from the very onset. Ignoring the obvious that finding two Trump supporters walking around the steets of Chicago with bleach and a pre-tied noose seeming just too fantastical to be true, Smollett is also under fire for faking a threatening letter. The letter, which warranted a HAZMAT response, was made with cut-out magazine clippings, and threatened the actor’s life. Authorities say that both the street attack and the letter are entirely false.

There are two losers in this scenario, and neither of them are Jussie Smollett. The first is the mainstream media — which was happy to run with everything Smollett told them from the start. After all, his story supported virtually everything they have been saying about not only President Trump himself, but also the people who support him. The second are actual victims of hate crimes which are now burdened further after Smollett damaged even the credibility of hate crime claims.
