Kevin Hart Goes On Bizarre Anti-Trump Rant At Music Award Show

At this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), comedian Kevin Hart went on a weird rant telling the audience that they were “allowed to kneel” in the venue, adding that there were no “old white men to stop you.” This jab was obviously directed at President Trump’s reaction to the NFL players protests during the national anthem before games.

NFL players began kneeling during the national anthem in 2016 when quarterback Colin Kaepernick kneeled to protest racial and police discrimination. President Trump quickly took to Twitter to express his disgust at NFL players disrespecting the national anthem. Many NFL players since protested Trump’s words by continuing the protest throughout the year. During 2018, three players with the Miami Dolphins kneeled during the first game of the season.

At the awards show, Hart not only took jabs at President Trump for his reaction to the NFL controversy, but the comedian also made fun of the turmoil going on at the White House. Hart likened the award show to “a typical day at the White House,” saying “beefs pop off, bad language, people run to the bathroom and send out crazy tweets.”

“In your face Trump, suck it,” the comedian concluded sporting an odd sense of accomplishment.

Hart’s bizarre rant against President Trump and the White House wasn’t the only one at the award show. Rapper Logic, who is better known for his song about his suicide prevention titled 1-800-273-8255, performed while wearing a t-shirt that read “F–k the wall.” The rapper had immigrant parents, children and leaders onstage during his political song “One Day” with Ryan Tedder. Logic seemed to be protesting the president’s policy towards family detention and separation in illegal immigration cases. The immigrants in the show all wore t-shirts that had the words “We are all human beings” on the front.

Not everyone agreed with the stars’ political messages at the award show. In fact, the comedian’s words set Twitter ablaze with anger. Hart now faces boycotts from people who were not amused with the comedian’s words. Twitter user Lord_Oil said that for Hart, “It is all downhill from here.” Many people on Twitter echoed similar sentiments about Hart. User @BobbyJColeJr1 expressed feeling disappointed with Hart for speaking badly about the president. He said that he thought that Hart had more class than to rip the president. Another Twitter user said that “Hollywood finally proved Kevin Hart is weak.” because he joined the “Trash the President’ club.”

Consequently, ratings for the annual event hit an all-time low.

Based on the many negative reactions posted about Hart’s tirade on Twitter, the comedian may soon be regretting his words. Many people believe that Hart’s entire performance hosting the VMAs was a big flop. Hart presented alongside comedian Tiffany Haddish, who couldn’t pronounce Camila Cabello’s name.

And with that, yet another self-aggrandizing award show slides further into the void of irrelevance — all because Hollywood elites can’t let go of their near-sighted political crusade against the American people.
