The knock on the two major parties used to go as follows. If you were on the right, the left called you a “Republican A-hole.” In turn, right-wingers would refer to the far left as “Liberal idiots.” But times are changing, and upstart congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appears to be setting a new standard for what it means to be a liberal idiot.
After unseating top Democrat incumbent Joe Crowley in New York’s 14th Congressional District, Ocasio-Cortez has been asked by the media to explain and define her “socialism will win” political platform. Much to the chagrin of excited progressive extremists, the rising Democrat star looks none too bright.
It’s hard to tell if Ocasio-Cortez is just dumb, or has been hanging out with ex-Pres. Bill “Slick Willy” Clinton as well as Crazy Bernie Sanders, because she appears willing to say some incredibly stupid things. Clinton became synonymous with lying while in office — Bill, not just Hillary. Although, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman” ranks right alongside the propaganda that the Benghazi Attacks were due to some video. Oh, those Clintons…
The New York socialist Democrat has been making some wild anti-Israel claims, despite knowing virtually nothing about the subject. At one point, the neophyte said that Israel was occupying Palestine. She also stated that the Hamas attacks on Jews were a “massacre” perpetrated by Israelis who defended themselves.
In one of the more garbled policy positions, she said in an interview “I also think that what people are starting to see, at least, in the occupation of Palestine, is just an increasing crisis of humanitarian condition. And that, to me, is just where I tend to come from on this issue.”
When asked to clarify her position, things got even odder.
“Um… I think what I meant is … like … the settlements that are increasing in some of these areas and places where Palestinians are experiencing difficulty in access to their housing and homes,” she said in a live interview.
When confronted with the fact that Israel does not occupy Palestine, she flubbed along saying “Yeah… I mean, I think … I’d … also just— I am not the expert on geopolitics on this issue.”
Go figure.
It also appears the sometimes blank-faced candidate doesn’t even understand the platform that helped her earn the party nomination. That is to say, she doesn’t know the difference between democracy and socialism.
“First of all, there’s a huge difference between socialism and democratic socialism,” Ocasio-Cortez claimed in an interview with Meghan McCain for the Washington Free Beacon. “Democratic socialism, and really what that boils down to me, is the basic belief that I believe that in a moral and wealthy America and a moral and modern America, no person should be too poor to live in this country.”
She did manage to point out that, “You know, I don’t think people wake up in the morning and say, ‘I’m a capitalist!’” Yikes.
In an astonishing tweet, the befuddled political novice made a failed attempt to attack Republicans.
“The GOP is:
– weak on fighting for working class Americans
– weak on crime
– weak on equal rights
– weak on national security
– weak on rejecting racism
– weak on moral courage
– weak on family values
So yeah, I’d say this a representative choice of their values.”
Apparently, she hasn’t checked the 50-year-low unemployment figures, booming economy, rising wages and the fact the country has achieved what experts call “full employment” due to Republican Pres. Donald J. Trump’s policies.
Minority unemployment is the lowest in recorded history, and the president has the moral courage to take heat from the media to defend criminal trade behavior by communist China and others.
National security has been an uphill fight the GOP has led against Democrats pushing for open borders and sanctuary cities. Crime? The GOP stands with law enforcement while the left takes a knee during the national anthem. And, Republicans ARE the family values party.
They say you can’t fix stupid and “they” might be right. While Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will almost certainly win in the mid-terms, the good news is that Congress has a new class clown. Step aside Maxine Waters, Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker, there’s a new standard for liberal idiot heading to Washington.
