Progressives Don’t Want Children to Watch These Classic TV Shows

The censoring of current films and publications is no longer enough for the progressive left; now, older movies, television programs and even cartoons are being targeted for removal.

We’ve seen a bit of a resistance from entertainers lately. Comedians like Bill Burr and Dave Chappelle both released stand-up specials where the material specifically targeted feminists and outrage culture. Films like Joker are smash hits, despite attempts by left-wing pundits to discourage people from watching them.

Because of these recent SJW failures, along with the flop of multiple films targeting the progressive audience, these stalwart defenders of pretty much everything are targeting shows from the past that have long been completed and are part of the cultural lexicon. Despite winning multiple awards and being lauded as some of the best programming of the last century, shows like MASH are no longer just classic comedy. They now have a dark side, and progressives want to make sure you know it.

What’s wrong with these iconic shows and characters? The New York Post’s Ruth Brown is here to let us know. These shows are the “worst offenders”, are ” “grossly inappropriate,” and “shouldn’t be shown to kids,” Brown says, highlighting some of the problems behind these programs:

MASH
One of the most beloved sitcoms of the past, Brown says MASH has a dark side. Adultery (usually not a problem for progressives), and characters that “terrorized” female nurses – but the characters in question were generally disliked by all, and terrorized both male and female characters on a regular basis.

Taxi
One character, described as a lech, behaves like a lech. He is disliked by other characters, but his existence is enough to trigger outrage today.

WKRP in Cincinnati
Another over the top sleazy character is included in this program, and is generally disliked by all other characters – this is not enough, though, and this show makes Brown’s list of outrages.

Cheers
Womanizing main character Sam Malone pursues women – including his coworkers, landing this lauded comedy on the no-list for Brown as well.

Pepé Le Pew
Not all sexual predators are human, though. Pepe Le Pew (the cartoon skunk) is the worst of the bunch, according to Brown:

“But all of the previous fictional pervs pale in comparison to television’s most notorious sexual predator: Pepé Le Pew.”

“These Shows Shouldn’t Be Shown to Kids”
According to Brown, the programs should not be shown to children – the same children that are being taught about multiple genders, sexuality and even drag queens before the age of 10. But a flirtatious cartoon skunk is just too much…

The deep dive into individual episodes of past programs to find something objectionable is just one more example of the descent into censorship by an increasingly strident left. It also demonstrates something we’ve all known all along: conservatives are just better at having fun and enjoying life.
