Seattle Businesses FIGHT BACK Against CHOP by Suing — Or LEAVING Altogether

Seattle’s CHOP (aka CHAZ) zone has been portrayed by the mainstream media as a peaceful Nirvana; however, the truth always has a way of getting out. The fact that multiple businesses and individuals who live and work in the area are either suing the city or skipping town altogether make it clear that CHOP is a disaster.

More than a dozen local businesses are taking the city to court, claiming that the move to allow CHOP activists to take control over the area has resulted in massive property damage and danger to public safety. Business owners said that they were unable to use or access their properties. One businessman noted that after detaining a burglar who broke into his shop and attacked his son, a crowd of locals forced him to let the burglar go free.

Other business owners have said that they were heckled for cleaning the graffiti off their shops. Still, others said their businesses suffered damage as they were unable to ship goods from the CHOP zone, or have goods shipped to them as truckers refused to enter the dangerous area.

At the same time, not all Seattle business owners affected by the CHOP zone are bothering with the legal system. Smead Capital Management, which manages over $1.5 billion, is dumping Seattle in favor of Phoenix, Arizona.

While the move may seem surprising given the fact that Arizona, like many southern states, is seeing a resurgence of COVID-19 cases, the firm is clearly putting a premium on conducting business in a safe, sane environment.

As Smead Capital Management CEO Cole Smead recently reported, there is really no downtown business community left in the city of Seattle. The recent riots, coupled with city officials’ absurd support for lawless individuals and their actions, have created such instability that it is highly unlikely that the business will be the only to leave Seattle for good. Another long-time Seattle-based business owner has predicted that there will be a mass exodus from the area.

The riots and creation of so-called “autonomous zones” are causing extensive damage to cities currently struggling to recover from devastating COVID-19 lockdowns. Sadly, liberal politicians are far more concerned about appearing “woke” than actually managing their cities. So, what choice do these innocent business owners really have?
