Senate Judiciary Committee Questioning Big Tech Censorship

After the release of the explosive New York Post story on Hunter Biden’s emails referring to his dealings with Ukrainian company Burisma, Big Tech, specifically Twitter and Facebook, sought to censor the sharing of the story.

In what some Senators are calling blatant acts of election interference days ahead of the 2020 Presidential election, the Senate Judiciary Committee plans to vote on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, to subpoena Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to testify before the committee on Friday, October 23, 2020, to explain their actions and why they are abusing their reach to silence the press in an attempt to cover-up allegations of corruption.

While Twitter claimed to be defending the privacy of others in this move, Senator Lindsey Graham pointed out that they did not share the same concern when the Steele dossier was released. The claims outlined there about then-candidate Donald Trump were leaked to The New York Times, and have since been widely debunked.

Because social media plays such a dominant role in the daily lives of Americans, it is important to ensure these platforms are not using their platforms to censor the information people can and cannot share for political purposes.

Here is Texas Senator Ted Cruz making the case for Big Tech oligarchs to explain themselves. Watch the full statement below.
