Efforts to prevent President Donald Trump from winning a second term appears to have only confounded Democrats. That’s because their impeachment hoax has torpedoed former Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign, and elevated Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. It’s the worst of both worlds for the Democrat elites that infest the Washington, D.C, Swamp!
From their perspective, the only thing worse than President Trump getting re-elected would be the rogue independent-turned-Democrat securing their party’s nomination. The D.C. elites yearn for an insider to get elected who is willing to play ball in terms of corruption and business as usual. When Trump won the 2016 election, it was a cold slap in the face to the swamp. Americans sent a message that everyday people were fed up with politicians who put the interests of foreigners ahead of our families. Senator Sanders may not be an America First candidate, but he might not go-along-to-get-along either.
The impeachment hoax seemed like a savvy strategy to get Sanders off the campaign trail and lock him into a Senate trial. That might have aided Biden, except the Ukraine scandal, and subsequent reports have pulled back the curtain on the Biden family’s vast corruption. Although absent from key primary states, Sanders continues to surge ahead of the former VP.
In Utah, Sanders enjoys a double-digit lead over Biden in a recent Salt Lake Tribune/Suffolk University poll. Not only does Sanders have a commanding lead, but Biden has fallen to a distant third place. The polling numbers stand at Sanders 27 percent, Senator Elizabeth Warren 14 percent, and Biden slipping down to 12 percent. In the run-up to the 2016 election, Sanders led Hillary Clinton in Utah, and is expected to win the state handily in the state’s March 3 primary.
“He starts with a foundation of individuals who previously supported him in the (2016) presidential contest,” BYU Professor David Magleby said. “And those folks are likely to return and participate in 2020.”
The Vermont socialist has also established a commanding lead in both the Gen Z and Millennial demographics. These younger voters were noticeably absent in 2016 after Clinton and the DNC undermined Sanders and stole the nomination from him. Gen Z and Millennial Democrats who stayed home may have caused Clinton to lose key swing states. According to Newsweek reports, this is how support breaks down.
“The latest Morning Consult polling data shows Sanders with a whopping 47 percent of support among Gen Z voters, those between roughly 18 and 24 years old. Sanders has almost three times as much support as former Vice President Joe Biden, who has 17 percent of Gen Z support and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, who has 11 percent,” Newsweek reports. “Among Millennial Democrats, Sanders has exactly double the support of Biden, with 40 percent to Biden’s 20 percent.”
If party leaders thought the impeachment hoax was going to deliver a blow to President Trump’s campaign and the double benefit of hamstringing Sanders, they sorely miscalculated. The president’s approval ratings continue to soar in the seventies and eighties, as the now exposed Biden continues to stumble.
In critical primary states such as Iowa, Sanders has recently supplanted Biden as the leader. Recent polling data puts Sanders at 30 percent, with Biden dropping to 21 percent just one week ahead of the Feb. 3 Iowa Democratic caucuses. The same trend appears to be occurring across the nation as Sanders now outpaces Biden 29- to 22-percent ahead of the Feb. 11 New Hampshire primary. Republicans seem unmoved by the antics in Washington, D.C., and nearly 80 percent have already made up their minds to re-elect President Trump. Again, the biggest loser of the impeachment hoax appears to be establishment candidate Joe Biden.
In the run-up to the 2016 elections, Democrat leaders did everything conceivable to undermine Bernie Sanders. This time out, sidelining him cannot prevent even their own party’s voters from seeing the shocking truth about Biden. The impeachment charade appears to be bringing about the worst possible outcome for Democrat elites.
“Suddenly, we have the Democratic establishment very nervous about this campaign. We got Wall Street nervous,” Sen. Sanders said. “They’re starting to think, could this really happen? We are their worst nightmare.”
