Special Election Results Are In: The Trump Train Still Looks Unstoppable

Since winning the November election, Democrats and Left-leaning media outlets have unleashed an unprecedented level of hostility toward the new administration, but President Donald J. Trump keeps stacking up the wins.

Democrats have pandered to the alt-Left base by implementing stall tactics with regards to cabinet appointments under the “Resist” banner. Issues such as the Dakota Access Pipeline, Paris Climate Accord, immigration enforcement, special elections and others have been touted as referendums on Trump.

Unfortunately for distraught Democrats, Trump’s much-promised “winning” has become a reality and everyday Americans are not distracted by the specter of Russian hackers. The tangible numbers behind “Make America Great Again” have turned Team Trump into a roaring locomotive.

Political Drubbings

Democrats initially called the five 2017 special elections against GOP members referendums on Trump. To date, the Republicans are undefeated in these head-to-head races, and that seems to have flipped into a referendum on Democrats.

The two most telling races are Greg Gianforte’s claiming the U.S. House of Representatives seat vacated by now-Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke. The Montana Republican was charged with assault after reportedly “body slamming” a reporter before the election. He still won.

Democrats rallied more than $25 million behind Georgia’s Jon Ossoff, making his bid to defeat Republican Karen Handel the most expensive House race in history. Unlike Montana, this was an all-in, high stakes and humiliating defeat that has party members calling for Democrat leaders such as Nancy Pelosi to step down.

Handel thanked the president in her victory speech to a crowd chanting “Trump, Trump, Trump.” The counter-punching president threw salt on the wound in a series of Tweets that the GOP is 5-0 and “I certainly hope the Democrats do not force Nancy P out. That would be very bad for the Republican Party – and please let Cryin’ Chuck stay!”

He also mentioned Ossoff forgot to actually live in the voting district.

Trump by The Numbers

Since Trump took the oath of office, the unemployment rate has gone down each month and hit a 16-year low in May. By comparison, unemployment stood at 5 percent when former President Barack Obama took office. It rose every month and peaked at 10 percent in October of 2010. The rate didn’t fall below 5 percent until 2016. It was 4.8 when he left office in January. Critics also cite low-paying and part-time employment for accomplishing even those low standards.

Consumer confidence has exploded since the Trump Administration took the reins. The stock market has enjoyed as series of historical highs that continue to peak as job-killing federal regulations are stripped away. Business confidence has also been buttressed by record-setting military deals with foreign entities such as Saudi Arabia. Markets in China have begun to open for the re-emerging coal and beef industries among others. At the end of the day, people vote their interests and the Trump Administration paves a path to “Jobs, jobs, jobs”, as the president likes to say.

Immigration Policy

It seems unimaginable that more than 12 million illegal immigrants are inside U.S. borders and neither party can agree on a policy. That hasn’t stopped the president in any way. Rather than slug it out with “The Swamp,” he directed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to act on the existing laws. The result has been targeted arrests of violent felons and gang members, without losing sight of the fact that all unlawful immigration is subject to deportation.

Although decried by the Left, the president’s call to root out the illegal taking of American benefits has struck a fairness chord. It’s difficult to defend that taxpayer money should go to undocumented immigrants that sneak into the country and don’t pull their weight. To balance Trump’s firm on immigration stance, he’s allowed non-criminal “Dreamers” to remain.

What’s the Message?

Winning political office generally means having a platform that voters can get behind. Currently, the Trump Train has backed up catch-phrases such as “Make America Great Again,” “America First,” “Winning,” and “Jobs, jobs, jobs” with hard numbers, deals and policy wins. The once controversial reality TV figure has emerged with tangible moves that positively impact voters. Coupled with expected health care reform and tax cuts, those may very well become an irresistible force for voters in 2018 and 2020.

On the other side of the aisle, slogans such as “resist,” “obstruct” and the promise of open borders and sanctuary cities are tough pills for voters to swallow.

So far, the Democrats’ idea that elections speak to Trump’s policies and popularity have backfired. This is a scenario we saw with John Kerry running against former President George W. Bush. His platform boiled down to “I’m not him.” It was a losing proposition, but one Democrats seem willing to repeat.
