As Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders surges in the Democratic Party’s presidential primaries, Republican strategists are witnessing growing national discontent among moderate Americans and a strong possibility of retaking the House of Representatives.
The Vermont senator’s ascension in the presidential primary may have left-wing extremists celebrating, but many see the Democratic Party shifting away from working families and moderate voters. According to national polling, only 42 percent approve of Sen. Sanders, with upwards of 53 percent strongly disapproving. Coupling the reality that far-left extremists such as Sen. Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), among others, have seized the power mantle, a wealth of Democrats voted in favor of impeachment in districts won by President Donald Trump in 2016.
“These are radical women that will not bend. They do not want to work across the aisle. They only want their policies of the Green New Deal, ‘Medicare-for-all’ and socialism for America. Oftentimes, it takes a woman to put another woman in her place,” GOP congressional candidate Marjorie Greene said, who is running for an open seat in Georgia’s 14th district. “I’m tired of seeing my president attacked every day. I’m tired of seeing our future threatened. I’m tired of seeing my children’s future extremely threatened, and it’s time to get off the bench and really step up to the plate.”
A record-breaking number of Republican candidates are running for the U.S. House, and Democrats look incredibly vulnerable. The GOP leadership is also enjoying a marked increase in campaign donations. Thanks to the Trump Administration, the economy is booming, trade deals have been achieved that favor Americans, and the U.S. southern border is finally being secured. Democrats, on the other hand, are pushing forward an agenda that would bankrupt the country.
NRCC Spokesman Michael McAdams reportedly says the movement is driven by “Democrats’ insane socialist agenda and obsessive efforts to remove President Trump.”
Leading Republicans are also engaging veterans who have returned home from the war in the Middle East to become politically active. Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton has been working to endorse and provide increased exposure to America’s heroes.
“So, for instance, all Americans respect veterans — they respect veterans for their service, and in many cases, like in Jason Church, their many sacrifices, like both of his legs in Afghanistan. That is a great door-opener for them. There’s almost no voter in America who will not listen to that veteran on the campaign trail because of that veteran’s record of service, but then they have to translate that into what they hope to accomplish for Americans in Congress just like they did overseas,” Senator Cotton said. “The path to the House majority runs through the so-called ‘Trump districts,’ where Donald Trump won a congressional district that is currently held by a Democrat. And, in a majority of those districts, we have veterans running for the Republican Party.”
Democrats squandered their two-year House majority trying to impeach the president and dithering around with fiscally impossible legislation such as the Green New Deal. Now, voters have an opportunity to get things on track again. With the GOP leadership focused and well-funded, it appears their check will come due in November.
