The Real Central Figures of the Russia Probe (None of Them are Trump)

Even with former Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort indicted on 12 counts of conspiracy against the United States, an honest look at the facts of the case still don’t connect the president to the Russian government the way many in the media are saying it does.

Early on Monday morning, it was reported that Manafort, who briefly led Trump’s White House bid, was charged along with former colleague Rick Gates. In addition to conspiracy, the charges also include money laundering. Mainstream media outlets say the event marks a new chapter in the Trump-Russia saga, but simultaneously fail to report how deeply the Clintons and their own campaign chiefs are involved.

While liberals are already crying out for Donald Trump’s impeachment, Fox News host Tucker Carlson virtually obliterated the idea that Trump was directly involved in any sort of collusion. During a recent broadcast, Tucker spoke with an anonymous source that suggested Manafort is more closely connected to the Clintons and their surrogates than anyone on the Trump team.

According to the source, Manafort worked alongside John Podesta, Hillary Clinton’s former campaign chairman, to promote Russian government interests while the former First Lady was working as Barack Obama’s Secretary of State. The relationship reportedly began in 2011.
